During our travels we saw great things. But we also encountered many people who were suffering. It was (and is still) really shocking for us under which circumstances some of the really poor people have to live.
What makes us sad is that in most cases it would not need much to improve the living standard of these people but nobody gives them the support to help themselves. Maybe because there are so many in need.
In Kathmandu, Nepal, we learned to know an organization which tries at least to support some of this many poor people. With this text Martin and me hope to especially help Rhisi whom we met during our stay here. He is quite extraordinary because even with the many problems he is facing he is a person full of hope with a big smile.
The following text is about him and the organsiation:
Nepal Youth Assembly (NYA) is a non profit making organization. We have some objectives but to conclude all the objectives into single sentence ‘We work among youth’. For the convenience we are putting our home page very soon where every one has a chance to look what is spicy about this organization and sure about Nepal too. At the moment NYA with the help Martin Aigenbauer and Birgit Karner from St. Valentin in Austria (Europe) are helping a person who is in need of human help. His name is Rishi Ram Dhakal he is 28 years old during his working time in Malaysia he met with an accident and took away his youthful time and now he is in wheel chair. He has one daughter aged 2 years and wife who is 26 years and she too is physically challenged. Because she is the only earning member and she only earns twenty Euro per month they have to live on really small space. The room they rent in Kritipur, near Kathmandu is very inconvenient for Rishi because he cannot go around. There are stairs in front of the house and also the little footpaths which leads to the house are in such a bad condition that it is too difficult for him to move around without help.
He has to sit in the tiny room all day long. His wife leaves the house for work at 6 a.m and comes back at 8 p.m. For Rishi it would be a great opportunity to be able to go to work. He already had computer courses so he would be able to type texts for companies, university, and so on. But to do this work he would need a computer, printer and scanner. The problem is that the money they earn is hardly enough to survive.
They could afford to live in a more convenient area where he could go out of the house alone and make a better living for them and their little child.
Nepal Youth Assembly wants to help Rishi and his family to make a better living and raises a fund for him to provide him with the necessary equipment for giving him the chance to work and help themselves.
