Shopping

Even in the smallest towns - sometimes also at the roadhouses - there are a small grocery, a pub, a mail room and a garage, but the range of products is rather small and the goods are expensive.

Mostly in cities with 3000 to 5000 inhabitants there is already a shopping center available.

In fact this should become a purchase only for the supper - however, there was simply too much choice in the centers.

Stores specialized on bikes are only available in the bigger cities. If someone needs spare parts en-route, there is the possiblity to call up at the big stores. Then they send the necessary items.
We once needed a new rim, and a roadtrain brought it the whole way from Perth to Carnarvon (893.6 km) for the freightage of 10 dollars only.

By the way you should know about your bike and its peculiarities, because we and some other bikers too were not stunned by the technical advices we got in the stores (of course there are not only good stores in Austria too).

On the other hand we were positively surprised by the outdoor shops. Even in the smaller towns they had a great choice of products in all price classes.
