Hi ! I am Birgit Karner - short Biggi. Since I am 12 years I'm engaged with bicycles - more precisely with Mountainbikes. At the beginning I especially liked Downhill racing, however, serveral years later and after some injuries I noticed that I like longer trips on normal streets too.
Most of my friends have problems understanding this passion, because they prefer the car to move along. Biking at any weather just for fun - hard to believe at all. For me too, sometimes. But it is that way. And the best is that my friend Martin shares this passion too.
When I first heard about people who pack their property on a bike and travel through the world this way, I was fascinated and wanted to find out more about these people and their motivation. But the idea of trying it myself striked me at a later date - since Martin agreed with this idea, we decided to do it.
Now, after this journey, I still do not have a answer to the question, why it is so wonderful to cycle through the world - loaded down with luggage, in all weathers, despite the many flies, with hunger, and without any comfort. But after all the "Why?" doesn't seem to be important for me.
I just hope, that the great feeling during cycling around will stay forever - and of course with Martin too, because he is the most important in my life. Maybe we will make another trip someday - and otherwise we can dream about it at least.

My name is Martin Aigenbauer - short Martin. I was born in 1981 and learned to know someone by the name of Biggi. She is my girl since several years already. And one day she had a great idea during the time I had do fulfill my compulsory military service (something that I really didn't appreciate). Her idea: Let us cycle around Australia with our bikes.
Häh? I indeed like to go biking, however, isn't it a little bit far? Otherwise, why not? And in addition we will not be separated that often.
After the military service I went to work half a year until I had enough money. Then I quit my job and of we went to Australia.
First for half a year, but then it became a year.
Now - after more than 20.000 kilometers - my girl and I are at home again. Our return has some quite nice sides, e.g. we can meet all our friends again. Meanwhile we have furnished our small apartment and thus we have every lot of comfort too (unlike our trip). We earn some money, because we both go to work again. I operate as plumber and Birgit is a shop assistant selling sports. But that also means, that there is little time for each other and also for our hobbies like biking, jogging, skiing and skating. And in addition we still have itchy feet. Perhaps it was not our last trip.
What we still wanted to say: Such a trip is not as many believe (we too before the trip) extreme and exhausting, but rather simple and indescribably amazing - we wish everyone the possibility to try it him/herself.
